Sushi Dog Food: Lavender Bubblegum Cake
Story of Food: Ever since I was a toddler, I've always loved lavender! We'd always have a bunch of the plants in our garden and when they flowered our garden would be filled with all sorts of bees - which I also love! My mom always used lavender in different recipes, such as cookies or ice cream, so I’m very fond of it. I’ve always loved it’s smell and it would frequently be in vases around my house. I often stayed inside on rainy days to eat warm lavender cookies with milk or hot chocolate next to the fireplace, wrapped up in blankets. The smell of it always reminds me of the comfort of my home and warmth. I’m also very fond of gum as it was something that was present throughout all of my childhood. The first time I was offered bubblegum, I was quite young and I was afraid of chewing gum - I was worried that I’d swallow it, choke and end up in the hospital - however it grew on me and I eventually became quite fond of it. Another food I have always loved is cake. Cake has always been a way of celebrating to me, a symbol of accomplishment and joy; I would always have cake at my birthday parties. decided to combine these three ingredients into a lavender bubblegum cake! I thought it would be an interesting combination with some foods that are important to me and that I’d enjoy designing a soosh with a more purple colour palette!

Sushi Dog Food: Bubbly Raspberry-Lemon Iced Tea
Story of Food: Iced tea is one of my favorite drinks. I don’t have much of a reason for why other than “it tastes good”, that being said, because of how much I enjoy it, it’s one of my main comfort drinks that I go for whenever I have the chance. I often end up buying myself those large cans of it whenever I have the chance, especially raspberry or lemon flavored.
I drink tea pretty often, something I likely inherit from my parents who drink it a lot as well. Though, they usually prefer hot tea rather than iced, therefore I’m more of the iced tea drinker of the bunch.
I specifically enjoy raspberry iced tea, often getting it as my drink of choice in many places, though there is a local restaurant that makes the best raspberry iced tea, at least I think they make it? Honestly I never looked into it, it's probably supplied by a chain or something.Who knows, someone does, but. Not me.
For my design I decided to make them a dark reddish brown like most raspberry iced tea I see, I added the lemon on the head as a garnish- but don’t be fooled, this little fella is Raspberry through and through.
I imagine they’re very bubbly, both in pattern and personality, but not too much so, they still remain reserved and calm, a personality I honestly find fitting of tea in general.
TL;DR I like tea a lot and its basically one of the only things I drink besides water.

Sushi Dog Food: Strawberry Jello cake
Story of Food: Strawberry jello cake has been one of my favorite desserts for as long as I can remember. I am not a big fan of sweet things but this is definitely an exception, it means a lot to me because my grandma is the one who makes it for me. She's been making it since I was a kid and almost a decade later she still makes it for me for my birthday and other holidays, and soon I'm going to learn to make it too! I'm really not good at baking but I am looking forward to going over to visit her and make one with her. Nowadays I am much more into fitness and I almost never have any sugar or sweets but I am always going to be happy to make an exception for her jello cake. She really enjoys it too so once I learn how to make it myself I plan on making it for her too and delivering it every once in awhile. I helped out with making it a few times when I was a kid but I feel like I could help out a lot more now, and it would be a great way to spend some time together. I always used to help her cook when I was younger but I was never super interested in baking so now I gotta make up for all the lost time, she taught me a lot about cooking but now I'm excited to give baking a try so I can make my favorite dessert and give her a break! :)

Sushi Dog Food: Superkid Ice Cream
Story of Food: It seems kind of silly, but Superkid ice cream is a childhood memory that I remember super fondly! Everytime our softball coach would get us ice cream, this is the flavor I’d get (my dad was the coach, and I absolutely just remember all of this stuff together when I think about this flavor.) Anytime coach would say “IF we win I’ll get you guys ice cream at the Goshen, okay?” and we’d go and win and I’d pile into my dad’s truck and we’d drive up to the gas station and I’d check out all the flavors and would just know which one I wanted. I’d hop up and down in my rubber cleats against the linoleum floor excitedly talking to my teammates about how well we’d just done and then it was my turn. Dad would say, you know, like “Only two scoops,” and I’d nod and say “Two scoops of Superkid, I love Superkid, can I get Superkid, please?” and the tired gas station lady would nod and get it for me. I’d have it all over my face and my shirt and my hand because I ate (still do) super slow. It had to have been like 15 years ago, but it’s some of the best stuff I have. I still adore the flavor but can’t really ever find it too much anymore, but when I do find it you best believe that I snag two scoops. My nephew also super loves the flavor because his mom (my sister)would buy it for us every once in a while (she’s like 4 years older than me, and had a job before me) and still buys it for her kids when she comes to my mom’s house.

Sushi Dog Food: Chocolate Chip Cookies
Story of Food: Chocolate Chip Cookies is a food that means a lot to me and it has always meant a lot to me growing up. It’s the sugary treat that always made its way into family gatherings. I saw it every holiday from Easter to Christmas and everything in between. Sitting at the big dinner table with all of my family and then going over and snagging a second cookie. I enjoy that even though it’s a simple food it can be made in lots of different ways. They can taste different, some are sweeter, others are more firm and crunchy. But aside from it always being at family gatherings, it was the first thing my mom ever showed me how to bake. I used to always watch her make cookies whenever I asked as a kid, so one day I asked her if she could show me how. I made such a mess with the flour, but it was a memorable moment. The first batch out of the oven I waited for them to cool off, and we each ate a cookie. They were delicious and gooey as the chocolate chips were all warm from being in the oven. After that evening I began to bake cookies almost every month, they were my comfort thing to make. Something to take my mind off of a long day at school or a long day at work. Then I would take them to school and share them with my friends and favorite teachers to make their days better. So chocolate chip cookies to me mean happiness and good memories from growing up.
