Sushi Dog Food: Honey-butter oatmeal
Story of Food:
The story of my oatmeal adventure began quite a while ago, when I was still a little rascal. My grandparents lived out in the country, a few hours away from the rest of our family and ran a cosy country inn in the middle of nowhere. Well, it sure was cosy for them. My parents used to drop me off there for a week or two, when my grandma wanted to spend some time with her grandkids  and I absolutely hated every minute I had to spend there. As a child, staying in a tiny village with only old people around was the most boring thing in the world.
The only thing that made the stay sweeter was the oatmeal my grandpa made me every morning for breakfast. I used to sit at the round kitchen table and look through the window right into the garden. Waiting for the milk to boil was my favorite part of the day. The taste of it is the fondest memory I've got from that time and one of the few positive memories of my grandparents I have, since they never were too pleasant to be around.
After my grandparents moved to the city to be closer to their children and grandkids my grandfather made oatmeal for me a few more times, but it has never been accompanied by those nostalgic, bittersweet memories again.
Nowadays I'd rather just make it myself and eat it alone, staring into a wall, or, sometimes, share it with my friends, hoping to replace the old memories with some new ones.

Sushi Dog Food: Mango Sherbet
Story of Food: Ever since I was a small child, I've always loved mangos. They are my favorite food and desert, and I'd eat anything flavored mango, and still will. This bean is based off of a time when I went to a sushi chain (quite an odd coincidence I know) with the lil automatic plates that circled around with various dishes to eat. I can't remember the occasion but i'm pretty sure it was on my brother's birthday as he always asks to go there for a birthday dinner. Personally I'm not a big fan of sushi, as I only eat like 3 items total from most places, one being shrimp tempora, calamari, and edamame, and after eating i saw they had some icecream on the menu n obviouslyI asked my mom, eventually getting it in the end we got it. I remember it wasn't just me but also my brother who asked for it to be fair... anYwayS It was the best mango icecream i've ever had, even to this day. I'm pretty sure it was a sherbet so I wanted to make my sushi dog based on the best mango flavor thing I'd ever had. They stopped serving it shortly after which massively upset me. To this day I look around for it. I've been to Vegas and had some mango Sherbet after riding on a rollercoaster in new York new York, and it's very close to what I remember it tasting like, Unlike most flavors, Mango always has a chewyness to it that always makes it delightful to have (or in my opinion at least). And with ming it's even better, adding a fresh flavor for the mango to really shine. I'm not much of a writer but I thought I'd share this as to why I chose mango for my food to base it off of, not like I had anything else in mind.

Sushi Dog Food: Peanutbutter Cup Icecream
Story of Food: I have a strong love of peanut butter, it's one of my favorite flavors and has been since I was young. Crunchy butternut is fine, but I very much prefer creamy peanut butter. The smoother the better. And I especially prefer peanut butter which actually tastes of peanuts; to me at least, there's a big difference between between overly-processed peanut butter, that's very oily, and peanut butter which actually tastes like it's meant to be an actual food.
All this to say, I'm kind of a peanut butter aficionado, and I an avid fan of all-things peanut butter flavored, from cookies, to pinwheels, to cakes, to truffles, but my big go-to has to be peanut butter cups.
And, of course, closely followed by peanut butter ice cream. But the absolute best is to combine those last two things together, into peanut butter cup ice cream!
The chocolate coating on the peanut butter cups provide a much-needed crunchy snap. Especially that of a tempered dark chocolate peanut butter cup! On the other hand, the peanut butter ice cream is creamy and sweet, and completely decadent, and yet again, the filling of the peanut butter cups is salty and nutty, and almost savory in terms of it's palatability and mouth-feel. When all three of those sensations come together (the crunchy bitter dark chocolate, the salty, crumbly peanut butter filling, and the ultra smooth and ultra rich creaminess of the peanut butter ice cream), it's the absolute best combination of things.
For that reason, I had to pick peanut butter ice cream to theme my sushidog off of.
I tried to incorporate all of those things into the design, with the darkest browns representing the peanut butter cups, the red-browns as the filling, the cream colors as the peanut butter, and the streaks as the caramel, that are found in some versions of the ice cream. Sushi Dog Food: Pretzels and Slushies
Story of Food:
When I was little, me, my sister and mom would often go to a close by mall. Often enough, at least. We did this a lot when me and my sister were young, so much so it holds a big soft spot in my heart. It became a comfort food for me and never failed to make me feel happy. So you can imagine my sadness when we at first thought the ones who actually made the food had went out of business. Add onto that that nothing else felt the same. {Example: Auntie Anne's. Not the same at ALL.} HOWEVER, things turned out all peachy! We had found that, at least in this particular mall, we found them again. I'm not sure. . .how we found them again, but that didn't matter. It always reminds me of happy, good memories and makes me feel a lot better if I'm feeling down. Whether that be because I'm genuinely sad or I'm just struggling with something. Not only that, but its always been connected to going with my mother and sister. As such, it always me time to be with them. It often reminds me of the times we would do "girl time" which would just have us going out for pretty much the whole day doing whatever. Something we haven't been doing very often lately. {//Cough cough the world shut down cough/} It just makes me feel warm if that makes any sense. Just going to get them just reminds me of being a little kid. While a comfort food, they also mean a lot to me to enjoy with my mother and sister. It just isn't the same if I'm having it alone. Its something I can only truly enjoy when I am in the company of my family members. Over the years, I feel like its become something that means a little more to me. Sure, I have other foods that I could describe as nostalgic or comforting, but they don't even hold a candle to what this particular food means to me. It kinda just. . .lets me "forget" problems or frustrations I may be having. I've only ever associated it with positive times. Honestly, the idea of them actually going out of business isn't my favorite thing to think about. Because if that happens, nothing else will really hit the same as it has for me. I admit, I struggle at finding the right words for the nostalgia and comfort this particular food combo brings me. But I hope this all makes sense, at least a little

Sushi Dog Food: Black liquorice
Story of Food: Food has always been close to my heart, especially food from my country. I have always wanted to share it with everyone and make them taste it, since it has a pretty bad reputation in other countries. The food is called as a Black liquorice. English/US version of it is tasteless and most hated candy, but here in my country, it's loved by everyone. It's sweet (but not too sweet, just perfect even for adult taste), soft and so tasty, especially from one company from my country that makes this liquorice. I love it more than any other sweets, it has always been by me side since my childhood, and it has been very dear to me because it's my country's specialty candies (plus salty liquorice). I don't remember when I tasted it first time, but I bet it was when I was a baby, so it has always been close to me and very familiar to me. This candy I courage everyone to try, and that's why it's so important to me, because I want people to realize it tastes Much better than from any other countries, well, in my opinion.
For me the taste gives back a lot of memories from my childhood, especially the ice cream version of it, absolutely delicious! So this little fella I drew have this same theme (black liquorice) for showing more love for my very dear candy that I love from my country. They might even open a little black liquorice shop for everyone to try some!
