Sushi Dog Food: Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake
Story of Food: Cheesecake has been a comfort food and part of shared memories with friends and family. I hadn’t heard about cheesecake until I saw and episode of iCarly, with the whole going to the Cheesecake Factory on TV, as far as I knew, we didn’t have one of those in my country, it was until a few years that I saw an ad on facebook about the cheesecake day at the Cheesecake Factory, at some point we got one in my town and nearby. I was ecstatic. I told my best friend and we went to try it for the first time, Oreo cheesecake and cheesecake in general became my favourite dessert since that day.
Later on, it was one of the first desserts I ever made for a small party with friends, wanting to make something to share with all of them I tried making a galaxy Oreo cheesecake and while it wasn’t stellar it was nice, we had fun and I got to dye cheese in galaxy colours and make It look fun and pretty!
Then there is a brownie cheesecake that has been a staple on my birthday for about 4 years, as cheesecake had come to be one of my faves I really wanted an Oreo one for my birthday yet couldn’t fin any affordable options for a full cake. My mom and grandma however wanted to make the day special for me and searching for a bit before the date, they found a nearby bakery that had cheesecake, while it was not oreo, it was brownie, and I cannot say how delicious it was. Since then, my family always gets it for my bday <3

Sushi Dog Food: Candy Cigs
Story of Food: Summertime, a season I adored- what feels like ages ago, now. I grew up in a small town, so there wasn't much to do and I lived in a rural suburban area with a huge yard. Every now and then, I got to go with my mom, brother and sister to the local mini market in town. I always thought it was a little spooky lookin, probably because the lights were dim and the building wasn't exactly new. Parts of the floor even sunk down. I suppose it sounds strange to the average person, but this was my home. Where I lived. The only thing I knew.. take that as you will, it's bitter sweet I guess. Anyways, we got to pick out one candy. My brother and I always went straight to the side of the store and grabbed the candy cigs. He always got the box with the cowboy on it and I got the one with a horseshoe and clover on it. At the time, this wasn't very extravagant, but after moving North and suddenly being the only child in the house.. you tend to miss those short moments. The ones that seem like nothing, the ones you forget about and miraculously remember. The memories that make you feel like you're gonna cry and at the same time they make you smile. I hope this soosh will remind me better that things change and that's okay, they change for a reason.
Even now, as an adult, I find myself lost when it comes to remembering simpler times.
Don't read this out loud, it sounds a lot more childish than I intended. Anyways, Reno is loosely based off of the "Lucky Mints" package of candy cigs, as far as I know it's not copy written?

Sushi Dog Food: skillet cookie sundae for two
Story of Food: the first thing i think of when i think of a skillet cookie is my twin sister. we've been inseparable since birth, and though we've had our ups and downs, i couldn't ask for a better friend and sister. but why do i think of her when i think of skillet cookies? well, there's a very specific way we have always loved to split skillet cookie sundaes. first, my sister moves the ice cream along her half of the cookie. then, she passes it to me. i eat the ice cream, whipped cream, and half of the cookie while she eats her cookie with slight ice cream "residue." i find it so endearing that, no matter where we eat, no matter what type of skillet cookie sundae we get, she always has to complete this process in order to enjoy her dessert! just a couple of weeks ago, i moved to san diego to go to college and study theatre. my sister moved to LA. to attend a smaller arts school. while we're only around 2-4 hours away (depending on traffic), i've never lived on my own without her. and with our busy schedules, it's been really hard to connect with each other except through FaceTime. i miss being able to lean over and give her hugs, being able to watch our favorite tv shows while chatting excitedly, and i miss drawing together. most importantly, though, i just miss her-- her personality, her laugh, her strange humor-- so, so much. so when i was brainstorming a food for my sushi dog, i wanted to choose something that would make us feel connected. i can't wait to cherish this soosh, and @shadesofangelite , i hope u read this <33

Sushi Dog Food: Cupcake Frappuccino
Story of Food: Years ago, back in 2015 when I was in my late teens, there was a special limited edition “Cupcake Frappuccino” at Starbucks. They had released 6 flavors for a limited time to celebrate 20 years. That frappe was one of the 6 flavors they released, and it became my dream coffee drink after trying it out just one time, when I was visiting my aunt and she had taken me to Starbucks. They sprinkled vanilla cake bits on top of the whipped cream one of the few times I got it, and the coffee was fairly strong yet also sweet with the vanilla and hazelnut mixed in. I absolutely loved it, and it quickly became a comfort drink of mine. I love coffee, but I don’t like black coffee or super strong coffee, and while I like sweets I also don’t like things that are too sweet, so this drink was a great mix of fairly strong yet sweet, without being too overpowering in either direction. I found out that the drink had vanilla and hazelnut in it because we went back again later that month that I was visiting my aunt and one of the barista’s told me about it, which I was super thankful about because once they stopped doing the cupcake frappes, I started just ordering vanilla hazelnut frappes, which tasted basically the same just w/o the cake bits on top. This meant a whole lot to me because I love coffee and I rarely got to see my aunt, maybe once every few years. It’s especially important to me now because as of right now, my aunt may not even make it to next Christmas, so any sort of memories I have with her are extremely precious to me. Every time I have one it brings me back to the times we would go out to get coffee together and would have some of the most intriguing conversations, it’s extremely nostalgic and comforting as well as delicious. I’ve wanted a sushi-dog since back when the species was originally created and only on dA, so this MYO event is giving me a chance to bring to life a sushi dog based on a drink that has such an important meaning to me. Thank you so much for the opportunity!

Sushi Dog Food: Sunflower Honey Cake
Story of Food: I knew straight away that I wanted to go for some sort of cake theme, as when it comes to combining food and animal designs, cake is always something that I find pleasing on the eye. It's a comfort food of mine when I am feeling down, or if I simply find myself craving something sweet, you can't go wrong with a bit of cake in my opinion! Not to mention, there's so many ways you can decorate cakes which is where the overall concept comes in. I definitely wanted sunflowers in there so I googled sunflowers then started brain storming some colour combinations. Then honey came into the mix because I thought it would be perfect for a nice warm tone but to also add a bit of extra sweetness to my Soosh. I find sunflowers to be a very uplifting and positive type of flower, and the warmness of the honey and the gentle colour tones really gives the Soosh that I have in mind a comfort character sort of vibe if that makes sense? On those really low days when nothing can seem to life your spirits, I want to look at this soosh and feel the positivity and happiness that radiates from them, which was exactly how I was feeling at the time of designing the baby. Now I haven't actually tried a sunflower honey themed cake for myself. But now that I have committed to this design, I feel a strong urge to attempt to bake one to try someday!
Having afternoon tea is something that I really enjoy doing, and to be honest I don't take the time out to go and do it enough! When I look at my myo design, it also reminds of those moments which never fails to put a smile on my face. Combine that with one of my favourite flowers, plus the sweet sugar flavours and the appealing colours then nothing else can beat it in my opinion. This soosh symbolizes happiness, peace, relaxation and warmth and of course a sweet treat!
