Welcome to the Celebration Pawty MYO Sushi Dog Event!!

Thanks for being interested in our species and event! To celebrate another year of Sushi Dogs we are running a FREE MYO event for all members who have not participated in the past! Please be sure to read the rules carefully before submitting!

Rules & Information

Open to All Members (without a PAW Soosh) | Sep 01 - Sep 30 @ 11:59pm ET

For this event, we are allowing every new user during the month of September to create 1 (one) free Sushi Dog design! This is open to First-Time Owners (FTOs) and long-time members who have not participated in this event in the past!

But here's the catch! We want to hear about a food that means a lot to you and see the Sushi Dog based on it! Sushi Dogs created for this event will be labeled under the "PAW" category rather than MYO (i.e. PAW-001: Mac and Cheese)

Rules

• To participate in this event, you must fill out the form at the bottom of the page. This includes a prompt to write at least 250 words about a type of food that means a lot to you! Once ready, please comment below.

• The Sushi Dog you create must be at least loosely based on the food that you selected to write about!

• All art and design must be completed by the person submitting it if possible. If the user is unfamiliar with the species or not confident in their art, they may request FREE assistance from friends.

• If a correction needs to be made you will be contacted either via reply or Discord if you choose to include it. Pending submissions are valid up to one week after Sep 30 @ 11:59 pm to allow for corrections. You will be notified before the week deadline.

• Any soosh created under this event is LOCKED to your account. This means you cannot trade them, sell them, gift them, or surrender them to the mirror.

• If you decide later you no longer want the design, it must be RETIRED as a Sushi Dog. They will remain on the site after retiring for archival purposes using the "RTD" tag.

• All Sushi Dogs submitted via this event must be ALL STAPLE traits. No items will be allowed to help speed up our approval process. You may apply items later once your design has been approved and registered.

• These rules may be updated later upon community questions and concerns. Please be sure to read through it one last time before submitting your design in case something has changed!

Sushi Dog Food: Lime Slime Pie
Story of Food: Lime Slime Pie. It seems very random, but I assure you, this food does mean a lot to me.

I... am quite young. The internet has been an important part of my entire life. I was connected to the world wide web at the ripe age of way-to-young-to-be-online. This was about... 2009? 2010? A lot of important things for the internet happened in those years. I was quickly sucked into the world of social medias and ancient Youtube. Upon these long hours I would spend on the computer, I happened upon a fandom. One that might be familiar to most, if not all of you. It was for a long winding webcomic called Homestuck. I thought hardly anything of it, and continued about my buisness on the internet.

However, my ignorant bliss did not last very long. In about 2015, something hit the internet. Something with intense ramifications. The hit game Undertale was released, and I was alll over it like a dirty shirt. My little mind was blown. I was enamoured by the way that the story played out, the way it made people feel, and the massive influx of people creating fan content. Those people really inspired me. A huge part of the fandom, well, it had transferred from an older fandom. One that was, well, going stale. That fandom was Homestuck. The main creator of Undertale had also worked on Homestuck, mainly contributing to the music and other sound design.

Homestuck was a huge part of my life. When I was 11-13, it held a tight hold around me. It took me that long to get through it, and even now I still haven't finished it. However, the characters still did imprint on me deeply. From the cool kid Dave Strider to the vampire-loving Kanaya Maryam, I was able to connect and fall in love with each and every character. There was one character in particular who I really, really liked. He was integrated into my personality more than the rest of them, haha. This characters name is Gamzee Makara. Gamzee is a kid who doesn't have the best relationship with his father, and eats a lot of things that he really, really shouldn't be eating. Lime Slime Pie, or as it's called in the comic, Sopor Slime Pie, is one of these things.

Sopor slime is a sedative that is used to control vicious, violent thoughts and tendencies in the world of Homestuck. It is not to be consumed, only applied to the skin for a long period of time. Gamzee consumes it regularly, giving him a chilled out, calmed outlook on the world. He collects it and bakes it into a pie. I realized a while ago that the same sort of pie can be made in real life, minus the sedative effects. It takes pie crust, whatever you wish to put into it, and lime flavoured Jello. I made it a while ago, and I added graham crumbs on top of homemade whipped cream. It tasted fan-tas-tic.

When I joined the Sushi Dogs community and found out about MYO slots, I was incredibly excited. I planned on making a Lime Slime Pie soosh as soon as I could get my hands on one of those. This anniversary event was the perfect opportunity for me to finally make a real design that I could definitively say was My Own Soosh.

Sushi Dog Food: CBD Bone Gummies
Story of Food:
I am someone who has suffered constantly with two things that this food is based off of: medical theming, for one, and in addition to this, completely debilitating anxiety. I’ve had a myriad of disorders, including Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD, and vision problems impacting my life since childhood; however, while I had anxiety disorders of various kinds on my record, it was only as of the end of my senior year in high school that I was properly diagnosed with Panic Disorder. A lot of TMI for a food story, I know! But I can’t think of how to approach it without getting to both sides of the background.

The other portion was the shape that I chose for this food: medical, anatomy-focused theming. I have always absolutely adored biology and found comfort in it, but also been absolutely terrified of it on another side of the spectrum due to past experiences with the medical field. You couldn’t get me to get a shot without being practically sedated sometimes. I’ve been frequently Xanaxed at doctor’s visits. One of the only things that seems to have worked for me, aside from my own medications - has been making characters themed off of things I’m afraid of, exploring them, and making them my own. It’d been surprisingly effective.

About two weeks before posting, I had my very first surgery. It went just fine, and I was completely calm as a result. I’d talked with my parents and they had agreed that due to the amount of severe psychiatric and physical pain I am constantly under, CBD gummies would be a good choice for me which I am currently exploring and looking up brands for. So while this is also a story about starting on a nice treat which’ll hopefully help me get back to living comfortably, it’s also a story of triumph - over both the medical barries I’ve faced and conquering my own fears. These gummies, and this Soosh (among another custom I’m getting made), are my reward(s) for making it through.

Sushi Dog Food: Mint Smashed Potatoe
Story of Food:
Smashed potatoe, especially with in combination with mint, is my most favourite food although it is such a basic and simple one. Everyone could make it, it is easy to eat and can be combined with so many flavours/ingredients. I’m in general a big fan of potatoe but smashed one is the top one for me! It has and will always have a special place in my heart thanks to my mother: it is one of the most important memory for me when she cooked smashed potatoe. The smell, the taste, the atmosphere, everything is precious of this memory and it helps me a lot in the actual days! Everytime when I was ill or feeling bad, she disappeared and I usually thought she didn’t care about my conditions but then she came back after some time with mint smashed potatoe. It was her way to show me that she cared because she was not the motherly person in general. She had problems showing love to her children and smashed potatoe was the one and only way to get the feeling of being loved by her. Even now this food is important to me and is needed to feel better because everytime I eat it, I know that I’m not alone. I always tried to cook it like my mother but still the one by her is the best. Eating it always gives me a nostalgic feeling like finally coming back to the safe harbour of family. So this mind smashed potatoe is like coming home even when I’m far away. It is and always will be my connection to my family although for others it is such a basic food.

Sushi Dog Food: Fruit Dumplings
Story of Food: Dumplings (or pierogi in Polish) are one of the more popular foods here in Poland - they're often stuffed with meat or with cabbage and mushrooms, but because of my picky eating, I did not really like both versions, for various reasons. Until I discovered dumplings stuffed with fruits and immediately fell in love with them! You can either eat them with fruits alone, or together with cream cheese filling, and both versions are extremely yummy. I like to sprinkle some sugar on them, too, for extra sweetness!
The ones I eat most often are filled with strawberries or blueberries, but there is a bunch of other fruits that go well in them, such as raspberries, apples, peaches or even cherries and plums! Basically, I think that most of the fruits would fit, it's just a personal preference whether you like this or that.
What makes me kind of sad is that dumplings stuffed with fruits are often 'controversial' here for some odd reason - people often say they're disgusting or 'not real dumplings', and I can't understand why. It kind of became the Polish version of pineapple on pizza, and honestly, I don't understand this discourse as well. If somebody likes certain foods this or that way, it is not a reason to put them down. We all have different tastes, and that's completely normal!
We often buy store dumplings, but one day I would love to do a home made ones, with my own dough and some fresh fruits. I never tried to do them, but I feel like this would be a nice treat to make, both for me and for my friends or family!

Sushi Dog Food: Birthday Muffin
Story of Food:

So, I’m kinda old now, I guess. A 90s kid.
Kid birthdays were special to me back back then - your friends came to visit and to play for a whole afternoon after giving them self-made invitations a few weeks before the date. Fun times, I tell you!

The food was something else back then as well - times were simpler.
We had no fondant, that stuff didn’t exist back then. Royal icing? This soft and creamy frosting stuff? Candy melts? Nope. If you wanted to decorate your baked goods you used a very simple sugar glaze or melted chocolate. That’s it.
No fancy stuff for you in the 90s.
However, some parents managed it to make their baked treats special - I can not remember if my parents made something like these as well, as I always liked a special type of chocolate yeast roll my dad made, (see my Soosh Chocoroll, haha) but I remember being absolutely amazed by these very special muffins as a kid.

These muffins were several treats in one! You had the muffin, either plain vanilla, chocolate or marble textured, then you had a layer of melted chocolate (cooled off and hardened) and on this layer toppings were sprinkled on!
It was mostly gummy bears or chocolate beans, as there simply wasn’t anything else (besides colorful sprinkles perhaps) - but we didn’t need anything else.
We loved those muffins.
The chocolate bean ones were a no-brainer, chocolate on top of chocolate? Deal!
The gummy bear ones resulted in….fights. See, there was often only one gummy bear placed on top of the muffin and these bears came/come in different colors and tastes. Everybody always wanted the red ones and no one wanted the clear ones - understandable, the red ones are clearly superior. No one cared too much about the chocolate beans colors, as they were all the same, just in different colors. But gummy bears?
War it is. Fight for the red ones, don’t settle for the clear or yellow bears.
Fun times!

For this Soosh I decided on the chocolate beans on top of a marmor-muffin - I liked them the most and remembering these muffins gives me a warm and happy nostalgic feeling. I’ve been wanting to get this Soosh for a while now, but could never get myself to send one design in for approval - now with the anniversary and this generous offer?
I figured it would be perfect to add a Birthday Muffin Soosh to my family!
Happy Birthday Sushi Dogs!!
