Sushi Dog Food: Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Squares
Story of Food: Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter & Pretzel Squares have been a hallmark treat of our household since as long as I can remember;
The 3 special holiday treats my mom would always make were No-Bake Cookies, Almond Roca Bars, and Peanut Butter & Pretzel Squares.
We were never an especially well-to-do family. Growing up, we were relatively poor. So making these sorts of treats were our way of having something special. We couldn't really afford to buy fancy brand name versions of these treats, but my mom would make them for me and my siblings, as well as our extended family; My grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins. My mom would make these treats as our Christmas Presents and New Years gifts to everyone.
Dark Chocolate itself has always been an especial favorite of mine (I'm not a fan of milk chocolates or white chocolates), and I love peanut butter and salty snacks like pretzels, so out of the 3 various aforementioned treats, the Peanut Butter & Pretzel squares were probably always a particular favorite.
As I got older, I started to help my mom make these treats around the holidays, and when I was old enough to head out for college, one of numerous recipes I was sure to ask my mom for the Chocolate Peanut Butter & Pretzel Square recipe that I had grown up with, and would make them for myself (and my room mates), as we were all on the winter/holiday semester track.
For me, Pretzel Squares bring back thoughts of family togetherness, and childhood nostalgia, and whenever I have them, I think back on all of those memories fondly!

Sushi Dog Food: Broccoli
Story of Food: Since I was a kid, I was always a fan of vegetables, I never considered them a problem like other kids did I never understood them, vegetables are healthy and delicious! My favorite vegetable was always broccoli. Those cute lil tree looking vegetables give me so much happiness and nostalgia! Every time I smell my mom cooking broccoli it makes me smile. I like this vegetable prepared in many forms: boiled, steamed, roasted and even baked into muffins! My mom always tells me that she dislikes how steamed broccoli tastes like but I absolutely love them like that! Steaming vegetables is the healthiest way of preparing them, they don’t lose any nutrients! Did you know that broccoli has 5 different kinds of vitamins?
When I think about broccolis two first things that come to my mind, are regular boiled ones prepared by mom, but also GRÖNSAKSKAKA, which are vegetable medallions you can buy at IKEA! This is my second favorite thing to eat there right after the vegetarian meatballs. They are potato-based medallions with broccoli, leek, onions and cheese. Just thinking about them makes me hungry, they are very delicious!
And last but not least, broccolis are more important to me because they remind me of one of my favorite youtubers - NaomiJon. It reminds me of her because she calls her audience broccolis, and she couldn’t find a better vegetable for that! I feel much attached to her because of that. She is one of the coolest influencers I know, she feels very human, shows imperfection and most important of all she always cheers me up with her content! That’s why I’ll always be a loyal broccoli!
I think this wraps up my thoughts about broccolis, my favorite, superior vegetable. I hope my sushidog represents them well!

Sushi Dog Food: Cookie Crumble Ice cream Cake Roll

Story of Food:

When I think of a food that inspires me, I tend to first think about foods with significant meaning to me from the past. That said, while thinking about foods important to me, one that specifically comes to mind is any sort of ice cream cake based dessert. Both ice cream and cake are very calming comfort foods that bring back memories of fun outings with friends; getting an ice cream from a local shop, or a fun cake to celebrate one's birthday. But what makes me happiest is when the two are combined into that of an ice cream cake. Just the taste alone of this treat brings joy, and don't even get me started about the beautiful aesthetic! When thinking about this treat, I think about the rare times in where I was able to find ice cream cake rolls at my local supermarket. While not as common as the typical ice cream cake, ice cream cake rolls are very unique and pleasing to the eye. I had no idea they even existed until I came across a type one day. Me and my friend picked it up and enjoyed it at our sleepover with my family and it was such an enjoyable time. Even the thought of the food brings the feeling of nostalgia of all the fun times shared with others I love, enjoying a tasty treat, and having a good time together. And that feeling is one of the best feelings I could ask for.
Ever since I first found the sushidog community many years back, I always thought to myself, if I had to choose one food important to me to make a soosh out of when the myo opportunity presents itself, it would probably be my favorite ice cream cake roll flavor that consisted of a cookie crumble! And now, that opportunity has presented itself right to me and it feels perfect to be able to finally make one out of this treat that I hold so dearly to me. Back then, I made a rough pencil sketch in my notebook based off of the roll the night I first had it, and I stored it away for some day when I could actually use it, and now, that moment is here. Combining the aesthetics of the box and roll itself, I made this soosh in inspiration of the cake I love so much. Even though not being sure about how to execute the design like I would've wanted it when I originally made it for myself, I powered through and tried my best to make me from a few years back proud that I did their design justice. And overall, I absolutely adore her. She brings the thoughts of all of the times I shared and experienced, with and related to this tasty dessert, back to mind.

Sushi Dog Food: Dango

Story of Food: I've had a fascination with Japanese culture since I was little, but I've never been the type of person that come out of her personal bubble, so I had no idea what was going on in the real world. It took me years to realize that illustration, anime and manga fairs existed. One of the first that I remember, I went with a friend that I met in the pre-university, there we discovered that they sold Japanese food and she bought me dangos. They tasted strange and the sauce they had was nothing I could have imagined but it is an experience that I will never forget.

Since then I have discovered many things, I learned to do a lot of things for myself and to make my way to the world that I have in front of me. But it all started with those dangos, that's why I wanted to base my first sushidog on them.

Sushi Dog Food: Lime Slime Pie
Story of Food: Lime Slime Pie. It seems very random, but I assure you, this food does mean a lot to me.

I... am quite young. The internet has been an important part of my entire life. I was connected to the world wide web at the ripe age of way-to-young-to-be-online. This was about... 2009? 2010? A lot of important things for the internet happened in those years. I was quickly sucked into the world of social medias and ancient Youtube. Upon these long hours I would spend on the computer, I happened upon a fandom. One that might be familiar to most, if not all of you. It was for a long winding webcomic called Homestuck. I thought hardly anything of it, and continued about my buisness on the internet.

However, my ignorant bliss did not last very long. In about 2015, something hit the internet. Something with intense ramifications. The hit game Undertale was released, and I was alll over it like a dirty shirt. My little mind was blown. I was enamoured by the way that the story played out, the way it made people feel, and the massive influx of people creating fan content. Those people really inspired me. A huge part of the fandom, well, it had transferred from an older fandom. One that was, well, going stale. That fandom was Homestuck. The main creator of Undertale had also worked on Homestuck, mainly contributing to the music and other sound design.

Homestuck was a huge part of my life. When I was 11-13, it held a tight hold around me. It took me that long to get through it, and even now I still haven't finished it. However, the characters still did imprint on me deeply. From the cool kid Dave Strider to the vampire-loving Kanaya Maryam, I was able to connect and fall in love with each and every character. There was one character in particular who I really, really liked. He was integrated into my personality more than the rest of them, haha. This characters name is Gamzee Makara. Gamzee is a kid who doesn't have the best relationship with his father, and eats a lot of things that he really, really shouldn't be eating. Lime Slime Pie, or as it's called in the comic, Sopor Slime Pie, is one of these things.

Sopor slime is a sedative that is used to control vicious, violent thoughts and tendencies in the world of Homestuck. It is not to be consumed, only applied to the skin for a long period of time. Gamzee consumes it regularly, giving him a chilled out, calmed outlook on the world. He collects it and bakes it into a pie. I realized a while ago that the same sort of pie can be made in real life, minus the sedative effects. It takes pie crust, whatever you wish to put into it, and lime flavoured Jello. I made it a while ago, and I added graham crumbs on top of homemade whipped cream. It tasted fan-tas-tic.

When I joined the Sushi Dogs community and found out about MYO slots, I was incredibly excited. I planned on making a Lime Slime Pie soosh as soon as I could get my hands on one of those. This anniversary event was the perfect opportunity for me to finally make a real design that I could definitively say was My Own Soosh.
