Sushi Dog Food: Pink Macarons
Story of Food:
I have a pretty big obsession with macarons. I have tried and failed so many times at making them but I can't help but keep trying since they're just so good and I hope soon I'll be able to consistently make perfect macarons. There's just something about them that I love. Anytime I'm out at a mall or bakery and they offer macarons I'm immediately in line waiting to purchase some. The price can be intimidating sometimes depending on the bakery but I honestly believe they're worth it. If it's on the cheaper side I'll purchase 5-6. The worst part about them is I can't help but eat them all immediately which then results in a very bad sickness from how rich they are.
Have I learned my lesson yet? Definitely not. The pain is worth it for the amazing experience of eating them. Every bite is just full of a soft cookie that just has amazing flavor. I get excited to try new flavors. I love birthday cake, caramel, cookies and cream, strawberry, and red velvet, but I will always buy pink macarons no matter what flavor. Though the best pink macaron I’ve had so far would be a pink strawberry shortcake macaron that I wish I had bought more of. Pink is my favorite color and always has been, pink macarons just look so beautiful to me I can't help but always buy them when I see them. For the macarons I make at home I'm working on making pink vanilla-flavored macarons and the process is fun and tasty even if they aren't as pretty as the ones in bakery's I still enjoy them.

Sushi Dog Food: Red Velvet Cupcake
Story of Food: During my food tech classes back at school red velvet was always the hardest cake for me to achieve, despite it being one of my favourites! They always ended up pink, brown or sometimes lost their colour all together while cooking. I always had to just add a heap of buttercream frosting on top to hide the colour. I was also never a fan of the cream cheese frosting most American recipes insisted on so ended up using buttercream or pre-made frosting instead.

Fast forward to when I was stuck in uni halls and decided as a break between studying I wanted to try and perfect the red velvet cake! What better way to start then with cupcakes instead of wasting an entire large cake. I would make one lot of batter and gradually add more food colouring or cocoa with every cupcake to see which combination would turn out better, then my friend and I would have taste tests. Cupcake night was always fun xD

To celebrate at the end of each uni year after exams, we would all meet up in the kitchen of the uni accommodation and bake, we were all getting a bit cupcaked out so everyone else made different red velvet recipes for cookies, brownies and others, while I stuck with my final cake recipe that we perfected together! We all ended up going home for the summer with so much baked goods since there was far too much for us all to eat ourselves.
We definitely had way too much red velvet during uni so I mostly have it for birthdays and special occasions now or when we meet up for picnics as a friend group!

Sushi Dog Food: Matcha Pancake

Story of Food: Matcha has pretty much always been my go-to flavor for everything- boba, ice cream, pretty much any dessert as well as my favorite flavor of tea. During my freshman year of college, a new matcha-themed cafe opened up nearby and it was my saving grace. It was always open pretty late on the weekends, so after going to a party or event, I always looked forward to winding down in this cafe with my friends. There was one time that I took a new friend there for brunch. We ordered the matcha pancakes and they were absolutely incredible- the perfect amount of fluffiness, moistness, and softness. I've ordered it in pretty much every topping combination possible (blueberries, strawberries, whipped cream, nutella...) and they were all equally delicious. When COVID hit, a lot of local business were affected pretty hard and I saw a lot of restaurants and stores close down. Unfortunately, this matcha cafe was one of the casualties. While I could still get my matcha fix from other drink stores nearby, none offered that same niche of matcha pancakes.
Since graduating a few months ago, that matcha cafe is among my top 3 things I miss from college. I still have a picture with my friends taken in front of their "I love you very matcha!" neon sign set as my iPhone lockscreen. I knew pretty much immediately what I wanted to design this soosh after, and they'll forever represent the memory of those heavenly matcha pancakes!

Sushi Dog Food: Brownie with pastel chocolate chips (cosmic brownies)
Story of Food:I enjoy eating cosmic brownies.I would say cosmic brownies are one of my favorite snacks. They may not be my top favorite snack compared to cinnamon buns, peach rings,or chocolate milk but its up there. I don't eat them as often anymore as we rarely buy them. But they still remain as a favorite snack to eat from time to time.I remember when I was younger and my grandmother would always take us to the corner store and I would almost always get them. Sometimes i would decide to get a different snack but i usually would go for the cosmic brownies. They are apart of my childhood.They also have a very special place in my heart. A while ago my mother brought some and I ate almost all of them in one day. My mother was not happy. Can't say i blame her. I don't really have a sweettooth so I usually try to avoid anything that's chocolate related or to sweet. But I can always make an exception when it comes to brownies. I not sure what it is about them that I like so much. It could be that they are brownies or maybe it's the cute little chocolate chip. It could be the taste and how soft they are or the fact that they are small and i usually have a small appetite. Whatever it is I'll still love them regardless. Hopefully my sushi dog will be able to reflect the love I have for them.

Sushi Dog Food: Cherry Jam Sandwich
Story of food: I have always absolutely loved cherries! Even though sometimes there was a few sour ones I always picked them if I was asked which fruit I wanted as a kid, and as I grew older that didn't change.

For one of the years of high school I had to work somewhere as intern to learn more about how a job works and also how to professionally interact with people. It was very difficult for me to ask people if I could be an intern at their shop and once I even accidentally called myself 2 years younger than I was. But even though I personally did not like talking to others I do remember very very well when cherry season arrived! The shop I worked at mainly sells farm products and when the cherries arrived it was chaos.

There were so many customers that bought cherry stuff. Some got regular cherries and others got cherry chutney (About which I did not even understand at all what it was) This period in the internship learned me the most and I look back on it with fun memories.

Now whenever I put cherry jam on my bread for breakfast or on a warm fresh waffle I think back to the days of my internship and all the fun times I had there. I learned a lot which is very helpful now that I have an actual job which without the internship would have been too stressful for me. That's why I want to pick this as food for my Anni sushidog! So that whenever I'll draw her I'll also look back on those memories.
