Rules & Information

Open to All Members (without a PAW Soosh) | Sep 01 - Sep 30 @ 11:59pm ET

For this event, we are allowing every new user during the month of September to create 1 (one) free Sushi Dog design! This is open to First-Time Owners (FTOs) and long-time members who have not participated in this event in the past!

But here's the catch! We want to hear about a food that means a lot to you and see the Sushi Dog based on it! Sushi Dogs created for this event will be labeled under the "PAW" category rather than MYO (i.e. PAW-001: Mac and Cheese)

Rules

• To participate in this event, you must fill out the form at the bottom of the page. This includes a prompt to write at least 250 words about a type of food that means a lot to you! Once ready, please comment below.

• The Sushi Dog you create must be at least loosely based on the food that you selected to write about!

• All art and design must be completed by the person submitting it if possible. If the user is unfamiliar with the species or not confident in their art, they may request FREE assistance from friends.

• If a correction needs to be made you will be contacted either via reply or Discord if you choose to include it. Pending submissions are valid up to one week after Sep 30 @ 11:59 pm to allow for corrections. You will be notified before the week deadline.

• Any soosh created under this event is LOCKED to your account. This means you cannot trade them, sell them, gift them, or surrender them to the mirror.

• If you decide later you no longer want the design, it must be RETIRED as a Sushi Dog. They will remain on the site after retiring for archival purposes using the "RTD" tag.

• All Sushi Dogs submitted via this event must be ALL STAPLE traits. No items will be allowed to help speed up our approval process. You may apply items later once your design has been approved and registered.

Sushi Dog Food: Tuna and cheese on sourdough sandwich
Story of Food:
Tuna and cheese on sourdough sandwiches hold a special place in my heart as one of my ultimate comfort foods. During the toughest days when I struggle to eat anything else, I always turn to this classic sandwich. Ever since I was a child tuna has been a staple in my diet. There was a time when it was the only thing I could bear to eat and I found solace in the familiar taste of tuna and cheese on sourdough bread.

When faced with a lack of appetite or the need for a quick and satisfying meal I always resort to making myself a tuna and cheese sandwich. It has become my go-to dish a reliable option that never fails to bring comfort and satisfaction. Surprisingly many of my friends who typically do not enjoy tuna find themselves loving my tuna sandwiches. It warms my heart to see others appreciate and enjoy something that I hold so dear.

It was only recently that I realized my beloved tuna and cheese sandwich technically falls under the category of a tuna melt when cheese is added. The revelation brought a smile to my face as I found humor in the simplicity of the dish. Despite its humble origins this sandwich has managed to bring joy and comfort to both myself and those around me.

That is why it has a special place in my heart for tuna and cheese sandwiches. The simplicity of putting them together brings me so much joy. Every bite is a reminder of the comfort and satisfaction they bring me.

hello! this soosh is absolutely adorable, but the round ear on the right would require the Gourmet "round ears" trait!

if you could edit this design to have more of a pointy ear, i can go ahead and upload this soosh to the masterlist - and then, if you would like, you can submit a design update with a haute potion, premium potion, or the corresponding enchantment item to achieve the round ears trait! <3

Sushi Dog Food: Gingerbread Latte
Story of Food: Anything ginger is my favorite flavor. Ginger tea, gingerbread, and chai teas with ginger. While they are hard to find around here, gingerbread and gingersnaps have always been a go to snack for me. If I can find them, I will buy myself some if I can. I’ve yet to try cooking them though. Gingerbread Lattes are another thing that I’m just absolutely in love with. When the winter season rolls around and the temperatures start to drop, the gingerbread lattes is something I will hunt down without fail every year. I sometimes even keep the stuff on hand to make them at home, but there are a few coffee shops around here that hold this as a speciality drink, and it has been highly popular. For me, it’s a safety food, something I know that I will always like. Mix some ginger and lemon into some hot water and sip on that on a rainy day. Ginger stir fry? Absolutely. I specifically chose the drink as my soosh food, because out of everything, it is the easiest to find outside of raw ginger itself. It’s a comfort to me and just getting to have one can immediately change my mood. I did also loosely base this soosh off of Link from the Legend of Zelda series. While not a food, it’s been my comfort hyperfixation for well over 20 years, and like the drink, is something that means a lot to me, so figured it would be best to add the mention of that here as well.

Sushi Dog Food: Sugar Cube

Story of Food:
Sugar cubes are a very simple food, almost testing the definition of what you can really count as food, but hey they still have a lot of meaning for me! My main reasons for liking them are aesthetics and the memories they bring.

My inspiration comes from both the classic little cubic… cubes and more creatively shaped sugar cubes. Just think about them! (Or ask Google for images, haha, they can have so many different colors and there are so many molds available for them) Simple, cute, fun, what more can you need?
What really inspires me about them is the fact that something so simple can be presented in so many different ways and be really pretty! It shows that complexity is not always necessary to make something beautiful; sometimes, it's about having a good idea that is executed well.

As far as I remember, the only time I saw shaped sugar cubes in real life as a child was when my grandma bought them for me and my brother during our visits. Which is even more special because she didn’t use any sweeteners in her drinks, yet she still wanted our tea time to feel special. And I have to admit, adding them to drinks somehow makes them taste better than regular sugar. Well, at least in your mind. Now, every time I see sugar cubes, I’m flooded with memories of spending time with my grandma, eating cookies, and drinking tea. In general, they always make me think about my childhood and all the time that has passed.

Besides, it's just sugar. It's sweet and makes other things sweet. I like sweet stuff. Enough said

Sushi Dog Food: Gyūdon
Story of Food: My food I chose is gyūdon! I've always been a fan of more savory foods instead of sweets and it's a very special dish to me because when I was a child living near Los Angeles we would get takeout every once in a while and one of the restaurants we would go to was a chain that specialized in making Gyūdon with teriyaki chicken on the side.

It was always like a special treat that we as a family would go and get and I always have had a fond memory of eating together while we watched movies and television.

When we moved away from Los Angeles we stopped being able to have it more and more till we eventually moved out of California and basically never got to eat it again unless we were visiting once every few years which was less and less able to happen as time went on.

As I got older I started cooking for the house more and making foods that weren't the usual Hispanic household fare and one day i figured out what the dishes name was and researched how to prepare and make it myself at home

Even though it takes a lot of effort to make it still gives me that same feeling of togetherness when I make and serve it to my family and brings back all the memories that I still have and it makes me happy to sea my family go back for 2nds whenever I'm able to power through my chronic pain to make the dish for meals.

Sushi Dog Food: Cookie Ball
Story of Food:
I have always been a large fan of sweets and treats since I was little. One of those treats being cookies. Chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, peanut butter, and so many other varieties; I enjoyed them all growing up. So naturally baking ended up on my massive list of hobbies I wanted to try out. I could bake cakes and brownies fairly easily, but I struggled a lot with cookies for some reason. They would be thin yet mushy or burnt. No matter how many times I read the instructions or looked it up on the internet, I could not bake any of the cookies correctly. I had decided to take a brake and cool off from standing by an oven all day. And my selected sweet snack for the day was a pint of ice cream, the cookies and cream flavor to be exact. I like to take a small spoon and scoop up as much ice cream as possible to shape it into a sphere, like a weirdo who is totally is not susceptible to brain freeze. As I continued to eat my ice cream and rest, I was scrolling social media. And as I scrolled, I had discovered a forum that shares various recipes for baking all sorts of desserts. One of the recipes that I had come across was a recipe for easy bake peanut butter cookies. The recipe for the cookies required one cup of peanut butter, half a cup of sugar, half a cup of brown sugar, and a single egg. Since it seemed simple enough, I figured I would ditch the failed premade cookie dough package and try out mixing the dough itself. So when I had mixed the dough completely, I realized I would need to separate the whole glob of peanut butter into smaller sizes to make the cookies (I did not have a large enough pan to make a single super-sized cookie, tragically). Turns out using a couple of spoons and forks did not work due to the stickiness of the peanut butter, so I would have to touch the raw dough after all. Pinching small pieces off and splatting them on to the baking sheet was not working either, they were just chunky blobs that probably would not bake well. But then I had remember how I rolled the cookies and cream into small little spheres. And so I began to roll the dough into round cookie balls, taking some dough here and there in order to balance out the size of each cookie ball. After forming the cookie balls, I had gently smooshed them down slightly with a fork so they would evenly bake and look like actual cookies. Finally, I placed the cookies into an oven and waited for fifteen minutes as they baked at a toasty three hundred fifty degrees. When the oven's timer set off, I removed the cookies and placed them on the stove top. Although I still had to wait for the cookies to finish cooling off before I could judge if the cookies were in fact decent cookies. So naturally I went back to enjoying my ice cream. And soon after I was able to try out the peanut butter cookies, they were not burnt or raw. They had kept their shape and they tasted fantastic! All thanks to my cookies and cream ice cream, so why not combine both! :D
