Thanks for being interested in our species and event! To celebrate another year of Sushi Dogs we are running a FREE MYO event for all members who have not participated in the past! Please be sure to read the rules carefully before submitting!

Rules & Information

Open to All Members (without a PAW Soosh) | Sep 01 - Sep 30 @ 11:59pm ET

For this event, we are allowing every new user during the month of September to create 1 (one) free Sushi Dog design! This is open to First-Time Owners (FTOs) and long-time members who have not participated in this event in the past!

But here's the catch! We want to hear about a food that means a lot to you and see the Sushi Dog based on it! Sushi Dogs created for this event will be labeled under the "PAW" category rather than MYO (i.e. PAW-001: Mac and Cheese)

Rules

• To participate in this event, you must fill out the form at the bottom of the page. This includes a prompt to write at least 250 words about a type of food that means a lot to you! Once ready, please comment below.

• The Sushi Dog you create must be at least loosely based on the food that you selected to write about!

• All art and design must be completed by the person submitting it if possible. If the user is unfamiliar with the species or not confident in their art, they may request FREE assistance from friends.

• If a correction needs to be made you will be contacted either via reply or Discord if you choose to include it. Pending submissions are valid up to one week after Sep 30 @ 11:59 pm to allow for corrections. You will be notified before the week deadline.

• Any soosh created under this event is LOCKED to your account. This means you cannot trade them, sell them, gift them, or surrender them to the mirror.

• If you decide later you no longer want the design, it must be RETIRED as a Sushi Dog. They will remain on the site after retiring for archival purposes using the "RTD" tag.

• All Sushi Dogs submitted via this event must be ALL STAPLE traits. No items will be allowed to help speed up our approval process. You may apply items later once your design has been approved and registered.

• These rules may be updated later upon community questions and concerns. Please be sure to read through it one last time before submitting your design in case something has changed!

Sushi Dog Food: toffee cake (also known as a skor cake, but toffee cake is fine for ml purposes!)
Story of Food: (283 words)
When I was a kid, every year my grandmother would make a cake for each of my siblings (myself included) called a skor cake- something she'd whip up in a pan the night before, and it was the best thing. Each year we'd all look forward to getting our skor cake, and when my little sister got old enough, she started asking for her own. Unfortunately, around 2008, we lost my grandmother suddenly overnight. Even though everything was different, we did our best, adapted to life without her, and kept as many of her traditions going,... and that includes the skor cake.
Nowadays, it's a whole event. Mom will buy the ingredients in prep a few days before one of our birthdays, and will either start it the night before or the morning of. The cake is rich chocolate, drenched in sweet and condensed milk. She'd pop it in the fridge and let it set before adding the topping. The cake's topping is whipped cream and crushed up skor candy bars, so Mom would toss the candy into a ziploc before passing us a hammer and saying "Go to town." It's become a way for us to bond in the kitchen, something my family has always done, but this is special. We get to enjoy the cake our grandmother made us, while also making new and fun memories each year for our birthdays. And trust me, these cakes /do not/ last longer than 3-4 days. It makes it way into the fridge and very quickly leaves as an empty pan. I highly recommend this cake if you have a heavy sweet tooth and maybe 4 hours to spare, because the results are worth it.

hi! this design is so cute (i am such a sucker for browns), but their tail resembles an object tail a bit too closely to pass as staple right now!

to pass as a wispy tail, the chips on the tail would have to be removed. unfortunately, there's a super fine line between tails that look like frosting (or other creamy foods) and wispy tails, so i totally get where the confusion comes from! in general, wispy tails shouldn't be able to hold ingredients since they're essentially smoke-like. once you've made these changes, i can upload this soosh for you - and you can always submit a design update afterwards to add back those chips with an enchantment or a haute potion! <3

Sushi Dog Food: Boysenberry
Story of Food: Some backstory for the uninitiated: In California, at the Knott’s Berry Farm Amusement Park, they host what’s known as the annual Boysenberry Festival. They were originally known for the boysenberries and cultivating them I believe. Many people from different states travel here specially for the festival, meanwhile it’s easily accessible to me each year. My first experience at the festival with my aunt wasn’t quite memorable, I didn’t go as often but recently i started attending. As it turns out, I absolutely loved being there. The different treats they make from the boyseneberries, the fun purples, and the trinkets from vendors made the experience very memorable. There were so many combinations of this single little berry with different foods that baffled me so much, I could never imagine having an elote with boysenberry butter could taste absolutely incredible! Luckily, each year they rotate new and old food items during the festival so I would be able to try the older items I never got to as well as the brand new selections. I’ve started to make it my own little tradition to go to the festival every year, whether it be with friends or family. I want to be able to share this experience; the happiness I feel every time I enter the park to try the new boysenberry-themed foods they have every upcoming year.

One day, I started to think about if I had any sort of fruit that I favored the most. I love so many, I thought it was hard to choose for me. Then that’s when I realized the Boysenberry was actually my favorite. I never adamantly attended or looked for any other fruit themed festivals or anything of the sort, I like strawberries and blackberries sure but I was always picky with how they were made into different snacks. But with the boysenberry I was pretty open to how it was crafted as a food item. Not only did it taste amazing on sweet and savory items, it also unintentionally became a source of happiness for me.

Who knew such a tiny little berry could bring so much joy?

Sushi Dog Food: honey sticks
Story of Food: When i was little i fondly remember getting honey sticks with my Dad. No one else in my family cared too much about honey sticks, but Dad and i loved them. When we would go on vacation and go looking around at all the souvenir shops, we were always bound to find the honey sticks in at least one shop! Dad would always buy a handful and he and i would share them while we continued to explore. When we would go to the mall he and i knew the shops that stocked them, we’d always give that place a visit and grab a few. My dad and i didnt always see eye to eye when i was growing up, so this is one of the small memories i hold onto.

To this day, even when dad isn’t around, if i see honey sticks when im out shopping i always have to grab some. They're just a simple, sweet treat i’ll always enjoy. Some could say I live for honey sticks, its my driving factor. I could not ever imagine a life where honey sticks were not available. The horror. I have some top flavors of honey sticks, which include Berry, Caramel and Lavender. Doesn’t matter what type of honey either! In fact I think I have had so many Lavender Honey sticks that I now resemble one!

Next time you’re out and about, look for some honey sticks, help yourself to a few and enjoy. They’re fantastic, i swear!

Sushi Dog Food: Omurice
Story of Food: [263 words]
Whenever I eat omurice, I think of my dad. Growing up, my father was often living overseas and every year I would fly to visit him. When I would visit, we would eat out often. He would show me all the cool spots he had found since I had been last. However, sometimes all you crave is a simple bit of home cooking; a staple of which was omurice. At the end of the week, we would tally up all the vegetables that were left in the fridge - often things like carrots, tomatoes and onions - use our big stash of frozen peas, then use any leftover rice to combine into a yummy fried rice base flavored with his signature sauce mixture. Sometimes we would add chicken, bacon, or whatever proteins we had left from the week to make into our “use up the fridge” meal. It always felt comforting and was slightly different every week.

What was always the same though, was the beautifully fluffy omelette on top—sunny yellow in colour, with a slightly runny inside. Whenever my dad would wrap the omelette around the rice in the frying pan, I thought it was like magic! Always a perfect oval shape, never tearing the egg mixture while also enclosing all of the rice perfectly. Then after plating, he would slice down the middle, spilling the fluffy eggs all over the dish. And finally, to finish, a drizzle of tomato sauce. Though I have never quite perfected my own omurice recipe or omelette techniques, every time I eat it I am reminded of him

Sushi Dog Food: Hello Dolly Bars
Story of Food:
The Hello Dolly Bar brings me back to childhood immediately. Every holiday while I was younger, Halloween especially, my Granny would bake up these delicious squares and my siblings and cousins would gobble them right up and even argue about who got the last piece! Since we're older now and live across the country from each other we don't see each other as often and one of the ways we're able to stay connected is by baking these treats on special occasions. We will even take photos of the batches we bake, send them to each other and compare who's looks the most delicious!

I can't put a price to the feeling I get when I recall the smell of these baked goods while they're baking or fresh out of the oven; the warm smell of the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, coconut shavings, pecans and graham in the air. It's a feeling that I wouldn't trade for the world and it makes me think of a simpler time when I was younger and my family was a lot closer than they are now.

Now, for some reason, I just can't nail the nostalgic taste of my Granny's original batches from when I was a child. I'm not sure if it's because she added that classic "Grandmother's love" secret ingredient, or if it's because everything always tastes better when you're a kid! But regardless, every single bite, to this day, fills me with that nostalgic memory for my family and fills me with love.

For these reasons, I have chosen the Hello Dolly Bar as my dessert for my Soosh. I designed this with Halloween in mind, due to the fact that my Granny would always bake extra batches on this holiday, giving them a more personal touch. < 3

hello!! i absolutely love this soosh!

right now, their ears are a bit too big to fall under the Staple rarity, though - if you could edit their ears to be a bit smaller (the main concern is with the floppy ear on the right, though i'd recommend sizing the other one down just a bit as well), then i'll make sure to upload this soosh for you asap! :)
