Autumn Harvest Festival Prompts

Weresooshes Revealed!

A new monstrous form has been discovered; what makes it occur and who was the first to discover it?

Weresooshes are the new Seasonal transformation! You wanted it, I wanted it, the Guest Artists wanted it...
This transformation unlocks the Monstrous Build trait for the new form.

The Monstrous Build gains slightly bigger stature, and Monstrous Paws! This is just a part of the build and not a unique trait. Monstrous Paws are larger than usual paws that have Large Claws. These can apply to the front, back, or both feet. Not only that, but this build allows for Weresooshes to also stand up on their back two legs if desired!

Monstrous Spell Now Craftable!

In order to gain a Weresoosh form, Sooshes must conquer the Thornbrush Wilds OR help solve the mystery of the large figures roaming in Culario.

Once you have gathered all three treasures, you can go into the Activities tab to craft the spell.

The recipe is automatically unlocked for everyone, but gathering each piece of the spell is no easy task!

Upcoming Festival Sales

Weekly Vampsoosh Auctions are popping up on Saturdays at 12pm ET!

October 5th, October 12th, and October 19th

Will you get a new mythical Soosh? It sounds like they may have a Weresoosh form as well... woah!

As tradition, we also still have the Trick-or-Treat Mystery Batch on Halloween, October 31st!

Don't know how this batch works? You'll be shown silhouettes of designs with specific themes, but each theme has 2 Sooshes! One is the Treat version, and the other a Trick!
You will be given a roll to determine if you get a Trick or a Treat in the discord server, and the other claim is defaulted to the remaining design.
It's all for fun, and you are always free to swap afterwards when the design is paid for!

There will be 5 themes... so 10 Sooshes total.

These activities are self-explanatory and are here to aid you in your site endeavors. Sometimes you just end up with an item that you don't want, and exchanging it for a different one is more appealing. Or maybe you have a hoard of ingredients from persistent forages but have been unlucky with the rare drops.

Round Ears Now Free for Sushi Hamsters!

This was something we were unsure of providing freely, but with feedback decided it felt okay to provide!

Sushi Hamsters now get a free Round Ears trait. If you have an existing Sushi Hamster, feel free to submit a free design update to add Round Ears. Just be sure to state this in your comments when submitting.

For those who used potions for Round Ears on their MYO designs, expect a refund soon!

Staryon and Magnaflorious are going on their Honeymoon!

Back in April, we got married!! It was a small and private affair because we wanted to spend our money on more important things... like going to Japan for two weeks!

This means I'll be gone from October 25th until November 10th.

I will try to check in on the site and team as often as I can, but I'd rather spend my time exploring the country and enjoying our time as newlyweds. Thus, this means the mod team will be handling a lot of things in my steed. Please be gentle and patient with them, as they are basically getting entrusted with the site despite being fairly new to modship!

I trust them with all of my heart, but handling a lot of the sites updates can be a handful!
If I hear that members were mean to them, I will be very upset... and may shut down the site. (I'm kidding)

They'll be handling sales, the mid-festival update, the newsletter, and more! So please be kind and thankful to them for all of their hard work to keep everything running so I can enjoy this very-needed break.

More Rules Clarifications

Just a few things that I feel need cleared up!

1. Sketchy/Messy designs are no longer valid for Soosh MYOs.
   If the markings and traits are hard to understand or be read clearly, the design will not be approved.
   This does not happen often, but just enough where we feel it was best to shut down. The masterlist is meant to be clear references for existing Sooshes, and if the reference isn't clear than it can lead to confusion. Thank you!
2. Please do not make comments on turnaround time for site submissions.
   Even if innocuous, these comments make the mod team feel guilty for focusing on their own personal affairs. They work as volunteers, and I have told them and reminded them repeatedly that our average time is 5 days.
   If you have not noticed, a lot of things get squared away before this time limit.
   Some examples are "I hope my submission gets approved soon so I can start ____" or "It's been a few days since I sent ____ in, I hope it's okay". Again, I know many members do not mean any harm but to a mod team that have other responsibilites outside of the site, this can read as an insult to their speed. If you have a problem with how long things can take, I ideally recommend volunteering for any organization to understand how much work goes on behind the scenes. Thank you.
3. Tied in with above, repeatedly reminding a mod to do a specific task can result in a strike on your account.
   I don't care if this is said jokingly or in a teasing manner. Do not remind my mods to roll raffles, grant items, reply to ask-a-soosh, respond to tickets, or anything of the sort. We are not always 100% certain of certain questions, or up to doing the menial task of granting/raffling things.
   It's a lot of hard work and if a mod is tired I'd rather them get some rest before making any mistakes regarding site happenings. I don't want to keep repeating this, but all of us are adults with other responsibilities outside of the site. They are volunteers. Please don't ruin their mood because you can't wait a few days for stuff. We'll be here!
   I will defend my mods aggressively and you do not want to upset me by upsetting them.
   Thank you for your understanding.
4. Do not initiate trades if you do not have the appropriate items/funds.
   I don't know why I have to say this. If you do not have what someone is looking for in a trade, do not try to trade with them. If you are going to say "I don't have it right now but I should get it soon" - don't do it. If users are trading or selling items or Sooshes, the last thing they want is to get their hopes up. Repeated instances of this is reportable for harassment, and I encourage any user who has experienced this issue with a user to let us know so we can start any trails to give formal warnings out.

Hamsters Revealed!

That's right - a new species is joining the Soosh ranks!
These little Sooshes are able to stand upright and have hands and feet to aid them in their adventures.

They have large rodent teeth if desired, and can expand their cheeks to store magic or food.

How do you get one? Well, they are joining Sushi Cats in the newly renamed Companion (formerly Felidae) rarity!

So the same ways you can get Sushi Cats works for Sushi Hamsters... just with a different item.

Event Currency Reset

When ending the event on-site, we accidentally cleared all of the Ocean Splashers earned from everyone. Oh no!

Due to the nature of the extension and how events run, we have decided that we cannot refund Ocean Splashers without it being an issue in the future again. This means you have to "spend" the Splashers.

We have supplied a free-to-grab Summer Seasonal Trait Box in the Holiday Shoppe to compensate everyone for this issue.
If you lost more than 500 Splashers don't fret! We have a few options to help rectify this issue.
The Holiday Shoppe will be emptied out in a week, so be quick to claim any remaining free gifts before they go away forever!

To claim missing Ocean Splashers:

First, you must send in a claim with a link to your currency logs with the math done for us. We'll double check this, but this speeds us the process.
Just state the Splashers Earned, Splashers Spent, and how many you had before the accidental wipe.
(For example: 1000 Splashers Earned, 500 Splashers Spent, so 500 Splashers missing)

You have two options from here:
A) The items you intended to buy from the Holiday Shoppe that is equal to the Ocean Splashers value.
You can go ahead and select them in the claim!

B) Cookies exchanged for Ocean Splashers at a 1 Ocean Splashers:2 Cookies ratio.
Aka double the amount of Ocean Splashers but in Cookies instead!
We have never allowed a Seasonal Currency:Cookies conversion, so this is a lower rate we feel safest with.
This currency conversion will never be possible again in the foreseeable future.

Those are the available options.
Please try to send these claims in within a week so we can focus on currenty event approvals and next month's festivities.

We hope they make sense!

Since this extension was new, we know for next year to warn users before the event goal is cleared to spend their Ocean Splashers ahead of time.
The currency cannot roll over, and we do apologize for this!
It's just the way events run in the backend; I will be unable to set a new goal each year without clearing the earned currency from the previous event.

So in the future, Ocean Splashers will be cleared after the Summer Starlight Festival every year. Please keep a note of this!

The On-Site Gallery is now available!

No longer are the days of trying to see the art people do for site happenings via random sites and links. Now you can have any Soosh-related artwork to live on site for the whole community to see!

We have different categories for your prompt art, and some for general art that was not made for anything in particular.

There is also a Free Use subgallery, so if you like making free bases, templates, and more for the community you may submit them there.

There is also an Official Art gallery, which we'll use to host some of the artwork made specifically for the site to help credit each artist that helps build us up.

Thank you guys so much, and we hope this addition is a fulfilling prize! We were unsure of the gallery feature but when we saw the sheer amount of art users were creating for Flavor Fight, we felt it was a true show of passion from everyone.

Crafting Enabled

We've had crafting on-site for a few months with the inclusion of Activities but it wasn't in use... until today!

The new foraging areas will drop items you can use to craft Enchantments. But you'll need a recipe first - maybe shop around and see what you want to create first.

Trait Updates

These will be adjusted after the newsletter is posted, so keep your eyes peeled!

• Felidae category renamed to Companion category
• Kitty Whiskers renamed Whiskers (for hamsters)
• Hamster build for Sushi Hamsters created
• Subtypes for Sushi Hamsters created
• Small/Natural-sized Fangs are now always allowed and free to use in designs.
• Saber Teeth the new Vampsoosh Trait (formerly Large Teeth)
• Foxy Ears are now merged with Large Ears
• Large Claws has been downgraded to Gourmet rarity

These are a lot of changes, but we hope the explanations below make sense as to why we have decided to adjust these.

For Large Teeth, we felt they weren't really large at all. Many of them were simple tiny fangs to show their "vampiric" nature but when it comes down to it, their size was similar to fangs we normally let slide. Sushi Dogs and Sushi Cats naturally have fangs after all!
Any "Large Teeth" that we deemed too small will be removed as fangs will be a free-to-use trait from now on. No longer will these dogs and cats be fangless.
Any "Large Teeth" that were excessively large has stayed in the rebranded Saber Teeth trait.

 

Foxy Ears were a similar predicament. When we looked at Sooshes with Foxy Ears vs Large Ears, the difference was not noticeable. Thus, we felt it was in our best interests to remove "Foxy Ears" and merging it under Large Ears instead. There was no fine line between the two traits, so we felt a merge was far better for the health of the species.

 

Large Claws were a similar predicament. We allowed small claws already for free, but trying to keep the fine line between the two was frustrating to users. It was especially frustrating for users who wanted a more "wolf" or "big cat" related Soosh, and not being able to access Large Claws at all was a wall we wanted to overcome. We felt that having some traits be a tier away from small and large sizes fit the best, so Large Claws just had to shift down as we wanted to keep small claws free-to-use!
(Small Wings tend to be Gourmet or Seasonal, while Large Wings are mythical; similar concept!)

But no worries; we made sure to replace the traits with some new ones that add more variety to our Sooshes!

Everyone affected will be receiving a Celestial's Gift to use freely as compensation for each Mythical trait that downgraded.

You can now see what Sooshes are inspired by existing IPs or have an alternate form of their design. It's fun to browse!

IP-Inspired and Character Import Labels Required

If you have a Soosh based on anything media related, please send in a report on-site with the name of the character/food/object and the media it is from. For example, if you have a Pikachu Soosh you would send in "Pikachu from Pokemon" so we could correctly apply the label.

If you have a Soosh based on an existing character design, please send in a report on-site with the toyhouse link to the existing design. This just helps users see any existing alternate forms of a Soosh!

IP-Character Limits and Exclusions

These changes were first stated in the discord before we officiated them. We are no longer allowing exact copies of IP characters for Soosh designs. We also have a few more limits that we will outline below!

1. No 1:1 Copies Allowed

This one is the biggest change but felt it was necessary to keep the site safe from cease and desists or other legal actions.
We still allow designs inspired and based off of existing media, but we ask for these adjustments:

• Colors must not be exact or color-picked. Adjust colors to match the "theme" better, or try to apply your own spin on them.
• Accessories can be similar but not exact. Change the patterns, colors, material, and more to make sure it is differentiated!
• Full outfits resembling the original clothes are not allowed. You are free to use these outfits off-site for personal use or personal commissions, but we cannot allow them for official prompts or customs/myo approvals.

We heavily encourage using the "aesthetics" or vibe of the media you are targetting versus just trying to import them as a Soosh. This would add more originality and a personal flair that can still showcase your love for the media!

Inspiration: Boris the Wolf

Design that is too 1:1 and therefore no longer allowed:

The main issues are colors being the same and accessories being very similar. Despite the unique Sushi Dog traits and build, the character inspiration is almost a copy.

Design that is unique and takes inspiration off of the source:

This one is perfect to us! Despite the accessories being similar, the design and colors are separate enough to be considered its own unique take of the inspiration. It no longer looks like a copy.

2. No IRL People Allowed

This one was a big one we discussed and ultimately felt we had to shut down.

Fictional characters are, at their core, fake. They do not cause real active harm to others. Real-life people however are complex and cannot be inherently trusted at their core. Everyone can name a beloved celebrity that eventually got exposed for horrible actions, and here at Sushi Dogs we want to prevent any links to such occurances.

Therefore, as of today, we will no longer accept any Sooshes based on any real-life person. Celebrities, deceased individuals, etc. are a part of this. This also includes fictional characters based on people (i.e. a cartoon has a character based on a former President).

We want to avoid any Sooshes based on any problematic figure, but to also respect real-life people's boundaries. It's unsafe to make a fictional design off of a living human, and we will no longer allow it at all.

3. No Adult/Explicit Content Allowed

We didn't really need to say this, but we wanted to make it clear.

We will not accept any media that is R-rated, Explicit, Sexual, and so on for IP-inspired Sooshes. We encourage and actively welcome teens into this community, and I do not want a label to directly link a teenager to a media inappropriate for their age.

If you have an existing design based on an adult/sexually-explicit media, we do ask that it be voided as soon as possible. We offer the following as compensation for those who want to help be a part of this process:

• Free Redesign Kit
• MYO Reversal (all items granted back into your inventory with the Soosh deleted)
• KP for the Soosh's worth (proof required)

Any designs under this tag will be deleted completely off-site, and you may keep the design to use as a one-off instead. We just want to keep things safe for our minors!

There may be some very tight exclusions made for media considered a classic pop culture icon, where most of society knows of the reference and its rating. Each one of these is base-by-case and we ask that you ask our team if it would be allowed before starting on a design.

4. Character Import Sooshes

Somewhere along the lines, the information regarding these imports got lost so we'll state it again.

Our rules has always been to have the Soosh linked with any designs it is based on and must be traded together. This is still a very strict rule and anyone who does not obey this may be banned from the site.

Secondly, you must get designer permission to make a design into a Sushi Dog. This is necessary.
We want to respect designers and their personal TOS, and to do that we require users to take the steps required to make sure existing designs being turned into a closed species does not circumvent their own terms.

If the designer is no longer around (deleted accounts, moved, offline) then you will not be able to make their designs into a Soosh unless you can find their terms that allow reuse of the design in some capacity.

This is everything!
We felt with these labels, we had to clarify a lot of things that used to be common information so we do hope this helps clear up some things. We also needed to be direct and outline designs we are no longer comfortable with for the safety of our minors.

Retired Sooshes

This keeps getting brought up, so I wanted to make a statement regarding them!

I do not intend to ever allow any Retired Sooshes to return. There are numerous reasons for this, but one of the biggest ones is that they were retired for a reason. It could be the designer's personal decision, or it could have been the result of a ban that was warranted.

We will no longer allow any discussion or showing off of Retired Sooshes anywhere. They are no longer part of the species and should be treated as such. Besides, you may not know what scars you are reopening by discussing Retired Sooshes that may have belonged to a dangerous individual.

Unprompted Questioning of Soosh's Trade Status

This was on our deviantArt page, and we will eventually add it to a noticeable spot on-site. But please do not DM or harass users for their Sooshes. It does not matter if they are inactive in the species - some users have decided to keep the design for a reason or another. You are free to just ask to be informed if they ever get put up for trade, but any questioning to initiate one is plain rude.

Galleries & Prompts

As a reminder, Character Codes are now required for all Prompt and Gallery submissions. This is to keep everything consistent and to link everything to each character appropriately. Your prompt will be rejected if you do not include a Character Code. Keep that in mind!

When submitting Prompts, it will ask if you would like to notify owners. This is only necessary if you did not upload the art onto an on-site Gallery.

When submitting art to the Gallery, please include participants. This should notify other users as well!

At the end of the day, we just want owners to be notified of any gift art they are given. Thank you for helping the art reach the giftee!

IRL Crafts for Gifts

If you are doing gift art for another user and want it to be a 3-dimensional item or craft, we have a few stipulations!
1. You must get permission from the owner if they are okay with this.
2. You must discuss with the owner if you plan on shipping the item or if you are not comfortable with it.
3. If you want it to be a surprise, you must be willing to ship it.

Shipping costs ideally is discussed between the artist and the giftee. Giftees are normally expected to cover shipping for a gift, so please don't feel bad asking them to cover the cost if they want it!
We've had many issues in the past where users kept physical gifts of Sooshes they did not own, so we wanted to clarify our stance on it.

Please just take extra steps to ensure this is a wanted gift that will not make someone uncomfortable.

These are folders to sort your Sooshes in, so now you can have some nice organization for your character list!

Simply go to My Stuff > Characters to begin creating folders and sorting them!
We believe the folder sorting (aka what goes above the other) is based on your character sorting, so feel free to play around with resorting your Sooshes and folders!

It is also linkable, so you can create folders intended to show off or for easy access to trades/offers.

Prompt Clarifications

These are some questions we have had recently, so we wanted to include these to make sure the community is also up-to-date with this info!

Character Codes Required for Prompt Submissions

As we continue to grow, we have decided to enforce Character Codes to be linked in prompt submissions.

This is under Characters > Add Character in prompt submissions. Then, you must add the code for the appropriate Soosh(es) included in the prompt. It does not require the food! Just the letters and numbers at the beginning of the Soosh's masterlist entry, and the code at the end of masterlist entry URLs.

This is just to ensure the Sooshes are valid at a quick glance for the mod team behind approvals.

Awakened Forms Must Be Approved to Use in Site Prompts

This is just to make sure any Awakened Forms used in prompts are valid characters, similar to how we would not accept unapproved Sooshes for site use. Awakened Forms are free to create!

Be sure to read the Design Update Guide to learn how to submit these.

Gift Art Needs to Reach the Giftee!

If you are drawing another user's Soosh, please ensure to send it to the owner. Otherwise, it isn't really a gift!

If you need help finding the owner (i.e. their site alias is inactive) feel free to ask in the discord for help on locating them. Or you can send a ModMail ticket to see if we can send the art to the owner ourselves.

Masterlist Clarifications

We have a few clarifications we would like to make regarding the masterlist as some of these were easy to miss!

Masterlist Art Thumbnails

You MUST use the thumbnail cropper, please do not turn it off! This allows thumbnails for Sooshes to all be uniform and same-sized.

Please also zoom out fully - do not zoom in on any part of your Soosh. We want the thumbnails to show off as much of the design as possible!

Masterlist Art must be Standalone (no headshots/alternate art/backgrounds/etc.)

The only exception is if you use a trait that can turn on or off like: Glowy Cheeks or Bioluminescence

Otherwise, we will reject the submission!

Masterlist art must be the Soosh by itself on a transparent or white background. Do not include zoom-ins, clothing refs, background colors, etc.. We want the masterlist entries to be clear and easy to understand.

You are always free to create reference sheets to link users for off-site use, but for our masterlist we need clear shots of a Soosh's design.

Mersooshes Cannot be Created During MYO Approval

This is just a quirk of how the Transformations extension works! It does not allow for two images to be approved at once (which is how the extension works).

You just have to submit the main form as a MYO on its own, and then Design Update it after the MYO is approved. It's the only way it can work!

There's a new transformation available, and a new yearly trait as well. The previous Summer items have also made their return, so this is a great time to nab anything you've missed. Wow!

The newest trait discovered this year is Translucent Body.

Translucent Body is a misc. add-on trait to your Soosh. This trait allows for see-through bodies of Sooshes. This means slime-like/gelatin-like bodies with inner objects, glass limbs with fish, and more!

Activities Live

Eventually these will get little thumbnails, but for now, you can now recycle those potions for when you want a bell or vice versa. Not only that, but if you are in an excess of pets (coughs chocolate basket gacha cough) you can now recycle 5 pets for 1 random pet box. This includes any pet box on-site, so you may be lucky and get an out-of-season one you have been after!

This is a Specialty trait that will only be available via Staryon or permission granted to mods or GAs for use. Ingredient themes are what they sound like: ingredients used for cooking! These may not be edible on their own, but certainly bring creations together.

Basic Food Themes

Just like with no longer allowing design features resemble traits, we are cracking down on Basic Food themes. These now must be very obviously food! We will not allow plants, insects, or other non-food related themes that don't sound completely edible. This means you cannot use a generic mushroom unless it's cooked in some manner (Mushroom vs Mushroom Soup) as the implication of it being raw is something we find confusing.

Plants that are obviously edible without need of cooking (Fruit) are fine, but plants or critters that teeter the line of consumption safety will no longer be allowed.

Prompts Adjustments

As AI becomes very prevalent, we have decided to move away from allowing writing as standalone works for our site. It was with a lot of delibiration but in the end, what really stood out was that our site was always marketed as an art-based roleplaying game. We are not knowledgeable in writing, nor can we keep up with members' writing styles as well as we can with art styles.

We have decided to come up with a combined solution: Storybook Combos!

These will allow some writing if you want to help develop a story or some characterization for your Sooshes. This is a 250-word short story included alongside an illustrated scene - no color necessary! Think of novels with black and white illustrations. This allows us to still have writing stay a component of the site, but tackles the issue of us focusing solely on art. We thank you for your understanding.

Our team of artists have worked hard to design lovely Sooshes that have their aquatic forms attached.
Every year in June, we host our annual Draw-to-Enter.
There is no judging involved - just luck!

Mersooshes are here!

These Sooshes are those who have unlocked a new form - the Mersoosh transformation!

These are alternate forms for your Soosh to use freely as seen fit! You don't always have to draw them in this form - they are able to transform in and out as needed.

Mersoosh Forms come with the free addition of the Fins and Scales traits!

This form brought a new set of additions for the masterlist:

1. Transformative Rarity (applied to both Sooshes)
2. Aquatic (Build) applied to the Mersoosh form
3. Form Change (Transformation) added to the Main form
4. Transformation: Mersoosh

These may be a little confusing - so feel free to see how they work on the current DTE Sooshes!
Essentially the traits are needed to align Sooshes with their rarity - similar to Supreme and Celestial Sooshes needing their respective traits.

Do note that this rarity is higher than Seasonal... so it may be a bit harder to obtain!

Trait Art Refreshed

Traits now (mostly) have art! There a few more new traits popping up here and there but for the most part, a majority of traits have appropriate artwork now.

Over time the text descriptions will be updated as well.
We hope the current visuals help explain and show the potential of newer traits!

Scales Downgraded

With the introduction of Mersooshes, we felt it was best to move Scales down to the Gourmet rarity to pair with the Fins trait. This allows for more aquatic-designed Sooshes to no longer avoid scale markings!

All users affected have been granted the Celestial's Gift item to reimburse the mythical trait.

Wyvern Wings have been added for our Draconic Sooshes who may have a more unusual wing placement.

More Traits and Subtypes

With today's updates, we have also added a few more last-minute trait and form additions to help clarify some traits for Sooshes.

New Traits:
Tailless & Hidden Bandana

If your Soosh now has the Tailless trait and you intended Fur Tail - just let us know! Most of the trait change was based on looks.
Hidden Bandana is now used for bandanas that may just be hiding in fur - what sneaky little things!

New Transformations:
Split & Merged
These transformations are to honor the very first Sushi Dog made - Sashimi!
They have a unique ability to split from a Trihead body into a Triptych form, so we felt adding these transformations would help them fit in better and allow more varied forms for Sooshes in the future.

These transformations are not currently obtainable as we continue to work out other site clarifications, but we do hope everyone looks forward to their full release!

New(ish) NPC added!

Welcome, Natsuki! (he/they)

For those of you who are familiar with Staryon, you would know this was a Dream Soosh MYO he had made years ago! As time went by however, his connection was lost with this Kitsoosh and we felt it was best to migrate him to an NPC role so community members can appreciate him - together!

He's a wandering Kitsoosh traveler, so he's rather mysterious to most of Culario... even though he left a very noticeable mark during a previous visit...
Maybe one day you'll meet him on your travels.

The Discord is a lot of upkeep, and to ease the workload we decided to hire one more mod to help handle part of it.

Claim Game Refresher

As we gain new members and mods, I just wanted to refresh everyone on how the claim game works in our discord server!

1. You may only claim one Soosh at a time.
2. Please try to only claim 1-2 times a month.
3. Artwork is due in 5 days or less. If you need more time, you must let us know ASAP.
4. We suggest waiting for 2-3 claims to occur before claiming again.

Remember - failure to follow our rules can get you banned from participating in the game.
We do our best to make sure claims move along as needed, so we just ask for you to do your part and finish everything in a timely manner!

Prompts Adjustments

Prompts that have prerequisites are now hidden by default. This may apply to the magic questline soon!

This change felt necessary as members continue to last-minute finish their quests for events. This would be fine in theory, but this overwhelms our moderator team immensely when we should be moving along with rolling raffles (haha) and shifting focus to our next events.

Quests will once again be due on the final day of the month together, but we do ask that members manage their time wisely so they can finish the entire event in a timely manner.

We have a timeline of 5 days to approve site queues.
Do not ask our mods to approve anything before this deadline. We are all volunteers and we do our best with the time we have!

If you submit things last minute we cannot guarantee approval fast enough for you to even begin your next prompt.
I do hope you sincerely understand.

New NPC and Shop revealed!

Welcome Rowan! (he/him)

Rowan isthe local hobbyist; when he isn't working, his nose is in a book! This Soosh loves to learn and will know many random facts about varied topics.  He also has a knack for sewing and tailors his own clothing for the fun of it. The best part of all? He is an absolute lover of any and all pets! You'll find him knowing many facts, behaviors, and theories regarding pets and their existence - so if there is any commotion with pets, he's your guy to go to!

Now that he is comfortable in Culario, he has been able to open up his shop:

His stock is limited to Treat Bags and pet-related goodies at the moment - great news for other features added to the site!
If you are after a rare or out-of-season pet, he'll be stocking them. They are higher than normal pets, but he works hard to lure them out during their inactive seasons!
It seems like he's heard the interest in his tailoring, so he may offer more in the future...

We are so excited to reveal this new NPC and Shop to coincide with some changes and new features added.
We hope you guys are just as excited as we are!

Soosh of the Month is back!

Yes... again!
But this time with a far easier way for staff to update and for all members to easily spot the new Soosh of the Month.

The first Soosh of the Month with the extension was won via a surprise raffle in the Sushi Dog Park discord!

You can enter the prompt twice each month, and a random participant will earn the chance to have their Soosh displayed next month.

SotM gets rolled the last day of each month to allow users time to reply with a Soosh they want featured, so please keep that in mind when submitting!

Are you a completionist? Want something to show off when you gather a bunch of rare pets from an event?
The wait is no more - collections are here!

There are now 10 Collections live for you to complete to your hearts content.

To complete or see what you are missing for a collection, go under My Stuff → Collections!

You may have noticed the Cheeps collection be active for a while. If you get all Cheep variants from the Chocolate Nest but didn't get lucky in finding the elusive rare Cheep, completing that collection will grant you it!
It's a small reward for the price you pay in attempted gambling.

Are you just too busy to draw? In an art slump? Or just like hanging around with characters and were never actually an artist or writer? Or maybe you just love being on the Soosh site every day?

Why not get some currency for it?
We now have a daily for you to check into every day for some!

The rarity drops are listed for an understanding of your luck and mostly for fun. Have you been having good drops lately? Or really mediocre ones? Either way, if you keep at it, you'll find yourself with some pocket change for other site activities!
Maybe pet boxes to complete some collections would be a fun start... but you didn't hear it from me!

Selected Character on Profile

Ever wanted to feature a specific Soosh above your regular row of displayed Sooshes? Now you can!
Simply go to My Stuff → Characters and head to the bottom to select the Soosh you want displayed. The more the merrier!

Navigation Bar Adjustments

Yes, it's not just you - the navigation bars have been adjusted!

With new additions to the site, we felt the links needed to swap and change to allow room for everything.

Sales are now a standalone link alongside Daily - this is to help newer members get started in either getting a new Soosh or gaining currency! 
Queues has been added and moved to the righthand side where personal affairs are. Queues just encompasses everything that requires moderator approval - like submissions, claims, transfers, etc.! This helps clarify for newer members that transfers need approval.

The footer navbar has also been adjusted to remove our deviantArt link and to change the Contact link to an on-site report as it used to link to noting our dA group.

Things may change again in the future, but for now, we hope these changes make sense!

Gone are the days of relying on deviantArt accounts to have an account. Now, like most users still in art communities, you most likely have a toyhou.se account! You'll be able to link one in your settings under aliases.
No worries, just click here to be taken there!
You'll also be able to set your toyhou.se alias as your primary, so users will see that on your profile instead.

On a smaller but more heartfelt note, the deviantArt group has finally been fully updated to gesture users to our site and discord instead. We have not used dA actively in a long time, and with their current policies, we have made the decision to no longer continue activity on dA.

It's a very bittersweet update for us. It was our home for many years, after all.
It was a long time coming, and we just hope everyone understands why we officially stepped away.

Goodbye Carats and Welcome Cookies!

After a lot of thought, the mods all agreed we actually fell in love with the simplicity of... well, Cookies!
Everyone who suggested Cookies or its adjacents have been granted their carats.

The design of the cookies are based on Sugar Cookies - similar to our NPC, Cookie!
Not only that but the colors chosen for the frosting and sprinkles are actually the colors used for our 10th Anniversary - wow!
That also ties Sprinkles (our special anniversary currency) back to our main site currency. It all comes together!

Cookies will be denoted by CO, so be sure to keep that in mind when seeing it in prompts.
*If you do not see the changed images, make sure to clear your cache for the site!

New Mirror Currency

Yes... we know, the mirror already has a currency. We all love Mirror Shards, but aren't you tired of the mirror rejecting your sweet offerings to rescue a poor trapped Soosh?

Worry no further - Treats are here!

Don't they look familiar?
As we were discussing the new Cookies currency, we had ticket after ticket of failed mirror purchases come through. silver looked through the code and we realized the fix was going to be a very complicated ordeal.

So I thought about it and realized... why not another currency? One that honors our former main currency?
Thus, Treats (TR) were born!

How does this new currency work?

Our new shop, Rowan's Haberdashery, stocks Treat Bags.

They are purchaseable with 500 Cookies or 1 Mirror Shards .
You'll need at least 4 Treats minimum to win over a Soosh in the Enchanted Mirror. This means you need to buy at least 4 bags.. the treats are quite small.
This means a minimum of 2000 Cookies or 4 Mirror Shards are needed to save a Soosh - just like before.

The fun part is, now you can mix and match currencies to save a Soosh! Short by 1 ? Try earning 500 instead to buy the remaining Treat cost for the Soosh you're eyeing.

We sincerely hope this change makes it easier to adopt desired Sooshes from the Enchanted Mirror. Both currency-wise and actually purchasing-wise!

Not only that, but now there is a handy price guide to let you understand what values a Soosh. The old value guide was very outdated, so the new guide now includes Seasonal traits and non-Magic Affinity Specialty traits!

Mod Batch & Mod Customs

Did you know: Mod Batches are posted on the last Saturday of each month?

With our newly expanded team, we felt a small adjustment was needed to not pressure every mod to meet a deadline.

Mods can now take on Mod Customs in lieu of participating in the Mod Batch.
Mod Customs work very similarly to Mod Batch Sooshes, but I bet you also don't know the details - so let's clarify!

Mod Batch/Custom Sooshes are allowed to have either:
• 3 Gourmet Traits
or
• 1 Gourmet Trait and 1 Seasonal Trait

Mods price these Sooshes as they feel fit. If they decide to tackle a Mod Custom instead of participating in the Mod Batch, it just means you'll be paying a price for a custom Soosh with the above choice of traits; no slot necessary!

Of course, if you want more traits or a Sushi Cat, you will have to provide those items.

We hope this makes sense, and we can't wait to see more Sooshes come to fruition each month!
